For decades, business finance has been manual. Log in, click buttons, move money, repeat.
We think it's crazy there's still a human behind every transfer, invoice, FX trade. AI can now code, design, even negotiate but finance still runs on spreadsheets and mental hacks.
We believe that in 10 years time "bank accounts" in the traditional sense won't exist. The purpose of a banking app or a bank account, or a finance "tool" is so you can log in and click buttons.
Today: humans click buttons on apps.
Tomorrow: agents do the work across those apps.
Eventually: products become protocols, which agents work with other agents.
This is how we see the future of business finance, it will be run completed async by agents from wherever the CFO works out of - be that slack, whatsapp, notion..
This is the infrastructure and future we're building for and the big bet we're making.
Right now, our product might look similar to some banking apps or points solutions but we're gradually transitioning to a chat based interface when agents take action on your behalf across our financial infrastructure. Eventually, Round becomes the protocol other agents (AI CFO's, procurement bots) call via MCP to manage their money.
In 5 years, "saas" won't exist. Either will point solution tools. Those that have been around for the past 10 years are trying to retrofit AI into their products with "co-pilots" who read only.
We believe we're in a late 2000's cloud vs. on-prem moment. Those who thought the migration to cloud would happen gradually, well they're now all extinct. And those who pushed all their chips into the centre of the table and bet their business on Cloud, became the biggest winners of the last decade.
We're going to see the end of bank accounts as we know it. We'll see the end of tools as we know it. Finance will run itself. Traditional business models will be turned on their head. Outcomes over headcount. AI over spreadsheets.
We're leading that charge.
